2 – Diabetes Support Group – 7 p.m.

Do you have diabetes? Would you like to meet others in your community who also have diabetes? Join us for the chance to take part in group discussion, share experiences, gain support and understanding and improve your diabetes self care. Facilitated by HGH Wellness Coordinator Melissa House. Held in the HGH conference room the first Wednesday of each month. All ages are welcome and there is no charge to attend. 

3 – Grief and Loss Support Group – 1:30 p.m.
Join with others who have lost a loved to explore feelings, share experiences and learn grief coping strategies. Held the first and third Thursdays of each month in the HGH conference room. All ages are welcome and there is no charge to attend. 

5 - Childbirth Education – 9 a.m.
The hospital's next “Childbirth Education” course will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the HGH conference room. Women in their fifth to eighth month of pregnancy are encouraged to attend. Fee for instruction is $45; women who deliver at Humboldt General Hospital receive a $10 discount. Lunch is included in the cost. Childbirth education instructor Anebet Muceus will lead the discussion. Mothers and coaches are encouraged to bring a couple of pillows and wear comfortable clothing for the instruction. 8 – Parent Advocate Support Group – 6:30 p.m.
All parents with special needs children are invited to gather in the HGH conference room to learn how to cope with special needs children. The support group normally meets the second Tuesday of each month. Facilitated by local resident Kim Howell. Parents and children are welcome and there is no charge to attend.

9 – Alzheimer’s Support Group – Noon
Alzheimer's can be a very taxing disease for both the victim and the caregiver. Join caregivers and patients in the HGH conference room the second Wednesday of each month to learn effective coping strategies. Lunch is provided for all participants. All ages are welcome and there is no charge to attend.

10 - Car Seat Fitting Station - By Appointment
Humboldt General Hospital Emergency Medical Services will host a "Car Seat Fitting Station" by appointment only in the ambulance barn located adjacent to Humboldt General Hospital. Participants should call ahead to schedule an appointment at (775) 623-5222, ext. 263; each install may take up to 30 minutes. Car Seat Fitting Stations will continue the second Thursday of each month.

17 – Healthy Year, Healthy You seminar – Noon
Join Humboldt General Hospital each month for its 2010 “Healthy Year, Healthy You” seminar series. This month's topic is "Heart Healthy Meal Planning." Lunch is provided for all participants. Held the third Thursday of each month in the HGH conference room. All ages are welcome and there is no charge to attend.

17 - Destination Fitness Quarterly Meeting - 5:30 p.m.
Humboldt General Hospital invites all area residents to journey across the earth as part of a new, fun and unique fitness program. "Destination Fitness" is open to all community residents including men, women and children. Participants "travel" by walking, swimming or biking initially throughout the United States and then the world. To register, please contact Humboldt General Hospital Wellness Coordinator Melissa House at (775) 623-5222, ext. 258. This is a free community program.

Held the fourth Monday of each month in the HGH conference room. All ages are welcome and there is no charge to attend.

12 - Breastfeeding Class – 2 p.m.
The hospital is offering a breastfeeding class for prospective moms as well as moms who are breastfeeding currently. Please bring your babies for a fun and lively get together to be better informed and learn some new methods for success. This is a chance for women helping women to enjoy and be empowered to fulfill the greatest gift you can give your baby. Lactation consultant Annebet Muceus will lead the discussion. 13 - Community Blood Drive - Noon
Local residents are invited to join in the community blood drive at the Winnemucca Convention Center from Noon until 7:30 p.m. Cookies and juice will be available. To schedule an appointment or for more information, please call Toddy at 623-5512. The community blood drive is sponsored by the Humboldt Hospital Auxiliary and United Blood Services of Reno.

17 - Jump Start Early Morning Power Walk - 8 a.m. 
Humboldt General Hospital's Wellness Department is excited to help jump start this community's fitness! Join us for an early morning power walk at Paul Vesco City Park, located across the street from Humboldt General Hospital. A light continental breakfast will be served beginning at 7:30 a.m.; the walk will begin promptly at 8 a.m. Participants may choose from 1-, 2- and 3-mile routes. Also, body fat testing and blood pressure checks will be available along with fitness and nutrition information. Participants also will have a chance to sign up for the hospital's free fitness program, "Destination Fitness." Don't miss this chance to jump start your summer fitness program.
