7 - Childbirth Education – 9 a.m.
The hospital's next “Childbirth Education” course will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the HGH conference room. Women in their fifth to eighth month of pregnancy are encouraged to attend. Fee for instruction is $45; women who deliver at Humboldt General Hospital receive a $10 discount. Lunch is included in the cost. Childbirth education instructor Anebet Muceus will lead the discussion. Mothers and coaches are encouraged to bring a couple of pillows and wear comfortable clothing for the instruction. 7 - Free Sports Physicals - 9 a.m. to Noon
Playing sports is fun, but it’s also expensive, especially with new “pay to play” rules in place. Humboldt General Hospital wants to do its part to help local youth have a successful sports season. This month, HGH’s new “Walk-In Clinic” will offer FREE sports physicals to all Lowry High School and
McDermitt High School athletes who will participate in fall sports, including football, boys and girls soccer, dance team,
cheerleading, volleyball, girls golf and boys and girls cross country. Please call 625-7000 to schedule a time for your physical, and remember to bring your form with you.
10 – Parent Advocate Support Group – 6:30 p.m.
All parents with special needs children are invited to gather in the HGH conference room to learn how to cope with special needs children. The support group normally meets the second Tuesday of each month. Facilitated by local resident

Alzheimer's can be a very taxing disease for both the victim and the caregiver. Join caregivers and patients in the HGH conference room the second Wednesday of each month to learn effective coping strategies. Lunch is provided for all participants. Humboldt General Hospital Emergency Medical Services will host a "Car Seat Fitting Station" by appointment only in the ambulance barn located adjacent to Humboldt General Hospital. Participants should call ahead to schedule an appointment at (775) 623-5222, ext. 263; each install may take up to 30 minutes. Car Seat Fitting Stations will continue the second Thursday of each month.

Join with members of the Humboldt County Chamber of Commerce in the Radiology Department for a "Business After Hours" Mixer celebrating the completion of HGH's new MRI suite. Enjoy drinks, hors d'oeuvres, tours of the new MRI and the chance to network with others from the business community.
21 - MRI Community Open House - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Humboldt General Hospital is excited to announce the installation of its new Magnetic Resonance Imager. Please help us celebrate with a community open house in the HGH Radiology Department. Enjoy a free tour of the new MRI suite, sandwiches, chips and soda pop, free giveaways and the chance to meet Huggy, the hospital’s heart mascot. You won’t want to miss the chance to see Nevada’s largest and most accommodating MRI unit. One in five U.S. patients is claustrophobic or obese and requires a more open imaging system. In the past, that meant limiting capabilities in exchange for space. Not anymore. We’re proud to “open” Humboldt County’s imaging possibilities with this new unit. All ages are welcome.

Humboldt General Hospital invites all area residents to journey across the earth as part of a new, fun and unique fitness program. "Destination Fitness" is open to all community residents including men, women and children. Participants "travel" by walking, swimming or biking initially throughout the United States and then the world. Please join us for this quarterly meeting where new participants can sign up or current participants can log their latest journeys. The hospital is offering a breastfeeding class for prospective moms as well as moms who are breastfeeding currently. Please bring your babies for a fun and lively get together to be better informed and learn some new methods for success.
