The Torres family is happy to welcome their newest addition and Humboldt County's first baby of the New Year: Jacquelyn Lizeth. On June 14, 2011, Humboldt General Hospital installed a time capsule in the wall of its new medical office building. The capsule includes a bounty of information about the current operation as well as some memorabilia like a cell phone and newspaper. Pictured at left is Terry Whalen, president of Signs Now, the Las Vegas company that manufactured the outside plaque for the capsule. Members of the Humboldt Hospital Auxiliary recently gathered at the Poke & Peek Thrift Shop to snap a photo with one of the hospital's long-haul transporters. The Auxiliary donated $100,000 toward the purchase of the vehicle, which is used to transport patients to Reno. The donation represented nearly half of the vehicle's purchase price.
